ESTABLISHMENT OF COMPUTER NETWORKING RESEARCH LAB

Test-beds and experimental infrastructures have made paramount contributions to the development of computer networks. In this project, we establish an Internet protocol test-bed for studying network protocols. This test-bed is used to simulate the Internet channel characteristics and to evaluate the performance of Internet-type protocols. It consists of six personal computers that are necessary to build an Internet channel topology for conducting file transfer tests.

Currently, we are testing the effects of TCP delta encoding header compression scheme on the throughput in hostile communication environment.

This project is supported by Department of Electrical Engineering, Lamar University.
